Terms of Service
Last updated: July 31, 2026
1. What Spector is
Spector ("Spector," "we," "us") is teleprompter software, made available at spectorlabs.io by Spector Labs. Spector is a web app (PWA) for rehearsal on phones, computers, and smart glasses. It is not a hardware product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Meta Platforms, EssilorLuxottica, Ray-Ban, XREAL, Viture, or any other glasses manufacturer.
2. Using Spector
The core teleprompter is free to use, with no account or sign-up required. Scripts and rehearsal data you enter stay on your own device (see the Privacy Policy for details) — Spector doesn't require you to give it any personal information to use the free core.
You agree to use Spector lawfully and not to use it to infringe anyone else's rights, to distribute malware, or to attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service for the purpose of impersonating Spector Labs or reselling it as your own commercial product under the Spector name.
3. Open source
Spector's source code is publicly available under the MIT License at github.com/hydrogenbondss/SPECTOR. The MIT License governs your rights to the code itself; these Terms govern your use of the hosted service at spectorlabs.io.
4. Payments and Spector Pro
The core teleprompter remains free. Spector Pro is an optional one-time purchase (currently $34 USD) processed by Paddle as merchant of record. Checkout opens from the site via Paddle.js; Spector Labs does not store your card details.
Pro unlocks features described on the pricing page at the time of purchase (today: longer on-device rehearsal history and export of script + stats). Features not listed as available — including cloud sync — are not included until they ship and are described as such.
Pro status is stored locally in your browser on the device where you complete checkout, or where you paste a Paddle transaction id to restore it. Spector does not verify that id against a server. Clearing site data removes local Pro status on that device; contact hello@spectorlabs.io if you need help restoring access after a purchase.
Refunds follow the Refund Policy (14-day window via Paddle). Prices and included features may change for new purchases; changes will be shown before checkout.
5. No warranty
Spector is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do our best to keep it reliable, but we don't guarantee it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose. Don't rely on Spector as your only copy of a script — keep your own backup of anything important.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Spector Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, Spector. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as Spector changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
